Garden with Wooden Hot Tub
A lot has been fitted into this charming, secluded small town garden not least the wooden hot tub. The design challenge was met by partially sinking the hot tub into the patio, to make it less visible and to make it a more useful height. With the cover on it now doubles as a handy coffee table! At the heart of this garden I created an attractive double spiral in the paving that adds interest to the space, and a small new water feature gives a lovely focal point to the furthest corner.
Mostly viewed from above, and backing up to a four storey building, my client understandably wanted the garden to look just as good from above, as well as from within the garden. I was conscious that the structure of the paths needed to create a pleasing shape throughout the seasons.
Whilst the garden is small, clever details in the winding paths have created several zones, offering a choice of areas to relax in and enjoy. The overall effect - of breaking all the straight lines - makes the most of the space and it feels like a far bigger garden.
